Phillip has had some incredible fishing experiences but few can quite compare the raw excitement found bass fishing at Lopez lake near his old stomping grounds up by Arroyo Grande.

He went with Jason Skarda.  They borrowed a boat, fishing poles and lures from Jason's father and headed rather aimlessly out.

They drove away from the marina, went over to a random bunch of stick-ups and began casting top-water.

Jason was casting a Super-Spook and on his first cast his lure exploded.  Phillip was in awe and while he was staring in open-mouthed astonishment, Jason yelled, "your ROD!!!"

Phillip turned and couldn't see his lure any more, but there were more pressing issues.  His rod was being pulled out of his hands.  He yanked back on the pole and began wildly, haphazardly, goggle-eyedly to reel.  He soon landed a FOUR POUND LARGE-MOUTH BASS!!!!  After taking pictures and letting them go, they then caught another FOUR bass in the next 30 minutes.

It was astonishing to see the lure skipping across the surface and a cloud of water spit up around it while a bass attacked it mightily.
